Joyce Shook Hamby, age 86, of Young Harris passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Mrs. Joyce was born to the late Arvil and Inez Shook in Young Harris, Georgia on January 30, 1938. She was a member of West Union Baptist Church and an Eastern Star for many years. She loved to walk around her property and also to sing. Joyce is a wonderful and loving person, Mother & Grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Joyce is preceded in death by her above-mentioned parents, husband Robert Hamby and siblings Paul Shook, Eva Ruth Southern, Linda Dell Brown and Noel Shook. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law David and Beverly Brown; Danny and Peggy Brown; brothers Grover Shook, Terrell Shook, Guy Wayne Shook; granddaughters Josie Brown and Austin Hall; Dannielynn Rogers; great grandson Brantley Hall; along with a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation: Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 5:00-8:00pm at West Union Baptist Church
Funeral Service: December 4, 2024 at 2:00pm at West Union Baptist Church with Paul Ray Morgan officiating.
Interment to follow.
