Joyce Hayner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Moreland Funeral Home - Westerville on Sep. 4, 2024.
Joyce Ann Clifford Hayner passed away on August 29, 2024 at the age of 94 in Westerville, Ohio. Born on August 19, 1930, in Delaware, Ohio. Joyce was the cherished daughter of Mable and Byron Clifford. She graduated from Delaware Hayes High School and attended Ohio Wesleyan University after receiving a scholarship. She went on to marry Gene E. Hayner on August 27, 1955.
Joyce was treasured by family and friends. Known for her warmth, generosity, and hospitality, it was difficult to visit the Hayner home and leave with an empty stomach. Joyce was always ready to host and engage in heartfelt conversations around her kitchen table.
After moving from Delaware to Columbus for a few years, Joyce settled in 1964 in Westerville. There she focused on creating a loving home for her husband and two young children. She still enjoyed that same home today.
Joyce was survived by her daughter, Rebecca J. Lucas (Phil); grandson, Joseph Gene Lucas (Brayden); granddaughter, Jill Ann Bishop (Dylan); sisters, Carolyn Reiss and Janet Poulton (Ronald); nieces and nephews: Debra K. Hoffman (Bud), Candi Meade (Mark), Terri Swason (John), Steve Reiss (Aida), C. Doug Hurdzan, Kathy Tannehill (Paul), Mile Poulton (Sue), and Robn Wallace, along with great nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene E. Hayner; son, Mark O. Hayner; sisters, Juanita Lynn and Mary Jo Hurdzan, and her parents, Mable and A. Byron Clifford.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 2 PM to 4 PM at Moreland Funeral Home, Westerville. Family and friends are invited to gather at Joyce's home in Westerville starting at 4:00 PM. We hope you will join us to share food and happy memories in celebration of Joyce's life.
