JOYCE HILL Obituary
Joyce Edwards Hill, longtime resident of Sherman, TX, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the age of 98. Her long life was a testament to her boundless energy, love, and devotion to those around her.
Among Joyce's passions was a love of volunteerism, giving thousands of hours of her time over nearly 3 decades to the Women's Auxiliary at Wilson N. Jones Hospital. Among her other interests were gardening, traveling, reading everything from novels to the New York Times, and enjoying live theatre from performances at Sherman's Little Theater to seeing over 120 productions on Broadway.
Joyce is predeceased by husband Roland Hill, son Charles Alan Hill, parents Bennie and Pannie Edwards, sister Christine Coffey, and brothers Billy Ray Edwards and Benny Edwards.
Joyce is survived and celebrated by her children, son Dale Hill and Steve Frawley of Dallas, Texas, and her daughter Karen Hill and Karen Kovacevich of Galveston, Texas and by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service celebrating Joyce's life will be held on Monday, February 2, at 11:00 am at the Dannel Funeral Home Chapel, 302 S. Walnut St., Sherman, TX 75090. Interment services will be held immediately after the service at the Van Alstyne Cemetery, 460 S. Sherman St., Van Alstyne, TX 75495.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Joyce's favorite charity, Habitat for Humanity, at their website habitat.org" target="_blank">habitat.org or to the Van Alstyne Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1494, Van Alstyne, TX 75495.

Sweet Joyce, always smiling and definitely full of energy. Lucky to be her friend.
I am honored to be the recipient of some of her wonderful meals.
What a wonderful lady.
I will always happily remember her loving meticulous work for our successful Christmas open houses .
It was my honor and pleasure to be around Joyce.
She will be missed and hold a special place in my heart .

Oh my goodness...so many sweet memories! I guess one of the best was when Miss Joyce hosted 4-5 crazy girls (our senior year) on Saturday night! She was an angel to put up with us staying up til all hours playing spades and laughing!

My Prayers and Thoughts are with all of you at this time. Your Mother lived her life well and her love is apparent in her children and their lives. She made the best cookies and coconut creme pie ever! Memories of her will live on forever while she spends eternity in Heaven.

My condolences to the entire Family ! I remember her as a sweet & pretty lady. She would come to Galveston to visit her daughters and bake cookies & pies that were so delicious. I´ll miss you "Mama"!
