Joyce Iannotta, 72, of
Powell, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2026 with her devoted husband, Glenn, by her side.
Joyce was born in
Painesville, Ohio and grew up in nearby Fairport Harbor. She was the daughter of Helen and Elmer Heikkila, and her upbringing along Lake Erie fostered a lifelong love of lighthouses.
Joyce graduated from Bowling Green University with a degree in education, and began her professional career as a vocational-technical teacher at the Southeast Career Center in Columbus, Ohio. She later joined Wang Laboratories, where she worked in technical and marketing support. It is there that she met Glenn, beginning a relationship that would span more than four decades. Joyce went on to build a career in project management at JPMorgan Chase.
From the beginning, Joyce and Glenn discovered that they shared a love of travel, wine, and enjoyed life together. Their relationship moved quickly, and it did not take long for those closest to them to recognize that they were meant to be together. One Sunday, as Joyce and Glenn approached a restaurant for brunch with Glenn's parents, his father confidently proclaimed that Joyce was going to be the next Mrs Iannotta. His prediction proved correct, and Joyce and Glenn were married in 1986.
Faith was important part of Joyce's life. She and Glenn were longtime members of Linworth United Methodist Church, where they shared their time and talents by volunteering with the church's youth group in the early years of their marriage.
Joyce also enjoyed participating in Ohio State University's Master Gardener Volunteer program. Her love of travel, wine, gardening, long drives, and lighthouses reflected her curiosity about the world and her appreciation for the simple pleasures that make life special.
Joyce will be remembered for the life she built with Glenn, her dedication to education and her professional career, her commitment to her faith and church community, and the many experiences and memories she shared with those she loved.
Diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, Joyce fought a courageous battle for more than six and a half years.
She is survived by her loving husband, Glenn, and her nephew, Josh Heikkila, who divides his time between Ghana and the Minneapolis-St Paul area. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Heikkila (Dawn).
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
