In 1951, Joyce married the late Sargon Ibraham, a United Methodist minister. Together, Joyce and Sargon traveled the world, including trips to Korea, Russia, Germany, and the Holy Land. She took great joy in being a devoted mother to her three children, a loving grandmother to her four grandchildren, and a proud great-grandmother to her six great-grandchildren.
Joyce was a talented artist with a special love for painting. She also enjoyed singing and was a lifelong member of the church choir. One of her proudest moments was singing in Billy Graham’s choir during his visit to Springfield. Joyce cherished traveling with her family to Maine and Canada in their family trailer. She also spent time at the Rockland and Mashpee Senior Centers, where she enjoyed participating in activities with friends.
Joyce loved being by the ocean and never passed up a lobster roll on Cape Cod. She had a strong faith in God and often expressed how blessed she felt to be surrounded by the love of her family. Above all else, Joyce cherished her family. Her legacy of love, faith, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She was the daughter of the late Elmore and Alice (Eaton) Pennington.
