Joyce Little Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith Brothers Funeral Home - Hampton on Mar. 31, 2026.
The energetic wind that was Joyce Ann Little gently shifted to a peaceful breeze on March 27, 2026. Heaven has gained the life of the party-our very own "energizer bunny"-whose joy, laughter, and vibrant spirit touched everyone she met.

Born in July 1954 in Hampton,Virginia, Joyce was one of a set of twins and a cherished daughter of the late George and Pearl Little. She spent her life rooted in Virginia and North Carolina, building a legacy of love, hard work, and unforgettable memories.

Joyce was a woman of many talents and strong work ethic. She worked as a welder at Newport News Shipyard and later followed her true passion-cooking. As a gifted caterer, she owned and operated DL Catering Service, where her meals brought people together in celebration and comfort. She also shared her culinary talents as a chef at Pearl's Palace in Newport News and in Gloucester. In addition, Joyce served her community as a devoted caretaker, always putting others before herself.

She was educated in the local school system, attending Robert R. Moton School, proudly remembered as "the best place for a student to grow," Thorpe Junior High School, and Kecoughtan High School.

Joyce lived life with enthusiasm and joy. Cooking was her passion, and her kitchen was always filled with love. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and was known for her athletic and competitive spirit. She played softball, basketball, and made history as part of the first Shipyard Cheer Squad for the Shipyard Baseball Team, known as "The Crowd Pleasers." She also enjoyed shooting pool, a skill lovingly taught to her by her father.

Known as the "Celebration Queen," Joyce cherished family time and never missed an opportunity to bring loved ones together. She was loving, giving, organized, and took great pride in keeping an immaculate home. Her presence was a gift, and her absence leaves a profound void.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, George and Pearl Little; her sisters, Dorothy Little and Dora Mae Little; her nephew, Eric Williamson; and her brother-in-law, Otis "Bill" Williamson.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her devoted lifetime companion, Leon Gregory, whom she loved unconditionally, three loving sisters: Ella Williamson of Gloucester, Virginia; Milmer Little of Hampton, Virginia; and Jo Ann Little Robinson (Edward G.) of Hampton, Virginia. She is also survived by her nieces, Tanya Little of Hampton, Virginia, and Amber Robinson of Largo, Maryland; her nephew, DeNathian Robinson (Katina) of Brunswick, Maryland; her great-nephews, Eric Williamson (Allison) of Gloucester, Virginia, and Abraham Robinson of Brunswick, Maryland; and her great-niece, Paige Robinson of Brunswick, Maryland, who shared a special bond with her through softball. Tawanda Williamson;niece in law. Joyce also leaves behind her beloved godchildren, a host of aunts, and cousins, including her compassionateNorth Carolina family, and many dear friends.

Joyce Ann Little will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her generous heart, and her ability to make every moment feel like a celebration. Her legacy of love, laughter, and togetherness will live on in all who knew and loved her.
