Joyce May Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wasson Funeral Home - Siloam Springs from Jan. 13 to Jan. 15, 2026.
Joyce Virginia May, 82, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, passed away on January 12, 2026, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Arkansas. She was born November 8, 1943, in Santa Ana, California, to Tots Vance and Essie Inez (Hogeland) Vance. Joyce lived in California for most of her life, where she met Jackie May, and they spent 45 years together.

Joyce had many admirers throughout her life, including her many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren whom loved and adored her. After a life of wandering and adventure, she finally settled in Siloam Springs with the love of her life, Jackie May, in 1997 to be with her daughters and their families. She was an affectionately assertive wife and recklessly doting grandmother. Growing frail with age and broken hearted after Jackie's passing, she endured to be with her children and grandchildren for as long as she might and was the and beating heart of her home.

She is survived by her son, Allen Shipman (Mary) of California, and their children, Samantha, Jessica, Tyler, Joseph, and Kaelean; Randy Shipman (Kathy) of Montana, and their children, Raymond (Riley), Madalen (Michael), and Ainsley (Braden); Kelley Stewart, of Siloam Springs and her son Brandon; Dawn Romine (Hank) of Siloam Springs, and their children, James (Dianna), Brian (Christy), and Jackie (Brent); Mike May (Jennifer) of California; Christina Ellingsworth, of California, and her children Robert and Kelvin; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jackie May; her grandson, David; three brothers, James Oliver Vance, Richard Vance, and Raymond Vance.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026, 1:00 p.m., at Wasson Funeral Home, in Siloam Springs, AR. To sign the online guestbook, please visit: www.wassonfuneralhome.com
