Joyce McDonald, age 82 of Gatesville, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023 in Waco.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. David Diggs officiating.  Private family interment will be at a later time at McDonald Family Cemetery.  The family will receive visitors one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.

 

Joyce Ann McDonald was born on December 18, 1940 in Bastrop to the late Arnold and Evie Bell Drosche.  She married Gaddy McDonald on December 7, 1963.   They resided in Gatesville, moving to Ballinger in 1968, where she worked for Dr. Green.  They moved back to Gatesville in 1977 and she worked for the Coryell County Tax Office, Coryell County Farm Bureau and Live Oak Baptist Church.  She was an avid collector of angels, clocks and oil lamps.  She also had an obsession of collecting (hoarding) Kleenex, hotel coffee cups, toilet paper, paper towels and soaps.  She was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Alton (Sonny) Drosche; and brother-in-law, John Marshall.

 

Joyce is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gaddy McDonald; son, Allen McDonald and wife, Cindi; daughter, Angie Modisett and husband, Andrew; sister, Mildred Marshall; brother, J.D. Drosche and wife, Margaret; four grandchildren, Megan McDonald Nichols, Whittlei McDonald Melton, Carsyn Modisett, Tristan Modisett; five great grandchildren, Quade, Blayson, Braylen, Tucker and Radlee.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Live Oak Baptist Church, 113 FM 107, Gatesville, TX 76528.
