Joyce Edythe McManamy, 74, of Lakewood, NJ, passed away on September 28, 2024.
Relatives and friends are invited for a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 12 pm - 2 pm in the Shook-Farmer Funeral Home -- 45 Roseland Avenue, Roseland, NJ 07068, (shookfarmer.com). A Memorial Service will begin at 1:30 pm.
Joyce was born in Newark, NJ and raised in Clark, the daughter of Charles and Edith McManamy. She lived with her family for many years in West Orange, and settled in Lakewood 8 years ago. She completed her Nurse's Training at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ and then completed her RN. Joyce worked in the radiology and oncology departments, spending the majority of her career at Barnabas as coordinator for the Anesthesiology Department. She then continued to Union Hospital, followed by the Infectious Disease Dept at Hoboken University Medical Center. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, painting, researching and documenting family history, and all things Irish. She will be missed by staff and fellow residents at Leisure Park Independent Living, where she recently served as an officer on the Residents' Council for several years.
Joyce is predeceased by her spouse, Arthur Allen Mackey. Surviving her are her beloved son, Allen J. McManamy, and his wife, Lily; sister, Carol Leys; and brother, Tom McManamy, and his wife Gail. She will be sorely missed by her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly: Jennifer Ferreira (husband Michael), Fabienne Leys, Meghan Ginsberg (husband David), Daniel McManamy (wife Stacey), Kathy Edwards (husband Dan), Jason Scally (wife Donna), and Kevin Scally; and her great nieces and nephews: Brady, Camden, Trafford, Marcelo, Evetta, Ines, PJ, and Milo.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the ALJHS Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, c/o Art Lundgren, Pres., 64 Sutton Dr, Berkeley Hts, NJ 07922 (www.aljalumni.org).
