Joyce E. Miller

1941 - 2025

Joyce Elaine (Headlee) Miller, age 84, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Indianapolis on April 23, 1941, to Charles K. and Ruth B. (Davis) Headlee. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1959. She married Robert E.H. "Bob" Miller on September 17, 1960, at Greenfield Christian Church.

Joyce was an aid at Weston and Greenfield Middle School, and a school secretary for Harris Elementary School for twenty years before retiring. She was the winner of the Gold Key Award in high school for art and was Homecoming Queen in 1957 as a junior. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Greenfield. She was involved in the Greensburg Area Emmaus Community. Joyce was very active in the Greenfield Christian Church, serving as a secretary and on many committees. She attended Bible Study Fellowship for twenty-five years. Her faith was very important to her, and she shared that faith with others. She enjoyed hosting an annual Christmas Eve party for family and friends at her home. Joyce enjoyed cooking, flower gardening, traveling, and entertaining family and friends. As a wife of a teacher, coach, and city councilman, she attended and hosted many functions as his steadfast support.

She is survived by her children, Jeri (Joe) Smith of Greenfield and Bob (Kristine) Miller of Anderson; two grandchildren, Charley (Katie) Smith and Jaye Smith; two great-grandchildren, Everly M. Smith and Michaela R. Smith; sister, Pat (Ralph) Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles K. and Ruth B. Headlee; husband, Robert E.H. "Bob" Miller; and infant daughter, Brenda Diane Miller.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the mortuary with viewing 1 hour prior to the service. Rev. Merlyn Winters will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
