Dawn Freese Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory - Greenfield on Feb. 17, 2026.
GREENFIELD – Dawn Noelle Freese, age 56, of Greenfield, watched her last sunset with her family on Sunday, February 15, 2026. She was born in Indianapolis on December 27, 1969. She graduated from Lawrence Central High School in 1988.

Dawn will be remembered as a bright and colorful spirit whose warmth made every room feel like home. Her smile arrived before she did, and her laughter lingered long after conversations ended. Dawn never met a stranger, and she carried a quick wit that turned ordinary moments into joyful memories. She would have gladly given the socks off her feet if it meant easing someone else's burden. Dawn found peace outdoors and was happiest with her hands in the garden soil or sitting under an open sky watching the sunrise, sunset or soaring eagles. She delighted in the rhythm of live music. Through her humor, generosity, and boundless heart, she leaves a lasting brightness in the lives of all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Keith Davis, McKenzy Davis (Thad Rose), and Jayden Weber; two grandchildren, Oceana Rose and Madalynn Rose; mother, Joan A. Freese; brother, Larry Freese; and several close cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Walter and Verna Freese; and maternal grandparents, Paul and Evelyn Schnepp.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A Celebration of Life service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the Autism Speaks, Attn: Donations Processing Center, P.O. Box 37148, Boone, IA 50037-0148, or by website at www.autismspeaks.org/donate. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary.

Aw my sweet soul sister Dawn. Heaven just got a lot more sassy and loving! I will miss your kind, caring and generous, loving heart and soul. I am a better person for knowing you and having you as a dear friend and mighty little sister since middle school. So so many memories I will cherish and never forget. I will always remember your wonderful tight hugs and the way your eyes lit up with a huge smile every time I saw you. You will be missed by so many that were fortunate enough to cross your path in this journey of life. I will carry your sweet spirit with me and you will always have a special place in my heart for the rest of my journey sis. My heart goes out to your family and all of the many friends for this heartbreaking loss.

I'm devastated hearing of Dawn Freese passing we become friends when I was hanging out at North Eastwood lounge. Whenever I would get up and sing I would see that hair just rocking with me I'll never forget our conversations. Her challenging me to shoot pool (and kicking my butt) we became fast friends...

ironically we battled cancer treatment together..we would message about how bad it sucks curse the disease yet praise God for every day that we we're blessed to have hear on Earth. One thing I know about Dawn....she may have been a little thing yet. "It's not about the dog in the fight but the fight in the dog" and Dawn never ever stopped fighting and her faith was strong!!!! She was at Peace knowing she did all she could do. Sometimes you don't get to "ring the bell" (Sometimes Heaven rings the bell for you) Mercy is granted to the warriors who never give up!!!! And Dawn Freese never ever gave up

Love You my friend see you soon enough!!!!

When we leave this life there are two dates. Marking when we came into this world and when we left it, and there is a dash... - that dash represents the life we lived the people we met those we loved those we held close even those we let go. It's the friends we met the fun we had and the memories we created. If you're reading this a week from now or a thousand years know this....Dawn Freese made the most of hers - and she filled it with life and she lived it surrounded by people who loved her . She worked hard played hard and when it was time for her to leave she never ever stopped swinging!!! Rest Peacefully Dawn Freese
