Joyce Monroe, age 81, of Cumming, Ga, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2023. She was a kind, loving, wise, gracious mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who always looked for the goodness in everyone. She loved her dedicated time as a Sunday School Teacher for 30 years at Friendship Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking for her family as well as traveling with them. She always enjoyed family reunions. She retired as an Administrative Assistant for Tyson Foods where she took pride in her work and the friends she made during that time. She is preceded in death by her father, Louie Castleberry; mother and stepfather, Sarah Stroup Castleberry Sanders and Alfred Sanders; husband Herbert Monroe: brothers, Bob Castleberry, Thomas Castleberry, Johnny Castleberry; infant brother, Joseph Castleberry; sisters, Martha Burrell, Mary Pugh, Sandra Burrette, Jannie Shirley; infant sister, Bonnie Castleberry.
Survived by her spouse, Donald W. Ray: children: Myra Monroe Reidy, Tim (Tonya) Monroe: stepchildren, Carla Keanum, Corey (Melissa) Ray: grandchildren, Joseph Reidy, John Reidy, Kade (Victoria) Kelley, Sydney Wiley, Brieley Ray: great grandchildren: Braelyn Barclay, Kadence Kelley.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 17th, 2023, at 1:00 PM, in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Byrd officiating and Rev. Kade Kelley officiating the graveside service. The interment will follow in Sawnee View Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, June 16th, from the hours of 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and again on Saturday from the hours of 10:00 AM until the hour of service.
