Joyce Elaine Moore

Mrs. Joyce Richmond Moore, age 76, of Burlington, North Carolina, peacefully transitioned from this life on earth January 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of her devoted children and grandchildren.

Joyce was born on December 24, 1949, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, to the late William L Richmond and Lottie Bell Burton Richmond. She later made Burlington, NC her home, where she built a life rooted in family, faith, hard work, and service to others.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Joyce was the heart of her family. She worked faithfully for many years in textiles and manufacturing, with the majority of her career spent at West Point Stevens. Joyce had a deep love for her community. She very was instrumental in the founding of the Morrow Town Community Group, established in honor and memory of her beloved grandson, DeMarius Vincent-a reflection of her commitment to uplifting and protecting the children and families around her.

Affectionately known as Mama Joyce, Grandma Joyce, or Granny, she was a mother figure to many people throughout the community. She shared a special bond with Kendra, Regina, Lakeisha, Jonathan, Brandy, Carrie and many others whom she considered her own. Joyce firmly believed in the importance of family and instilled that value in everyone she loved.

Known for her straightforward spirit, animated storytelling, and sharp sense of humor, Joyce had a way of speaking truth wrapped in love. Her laughter, wisdom, and authenticity left a lasting impression on all who encountered her.

Joyce was a faithful member of New Dimensions Fellowship Church, where she served diligently until her health began to decline. She was honored and recognized as the Mother of the Church, a role she carried with grace, humility, and deep devotion.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her children: Shelby Florence, Christine Richmond,"Bonus" daughter Lynnette P. Yellock(Anthony), Bishop Timothy (Melissa) Richmond; her brothers, Benny Richmond and Dennis Richmond Sr., both of Burlington, NC; and her six grandchildren, Kemontra Richmond, Brandon Richmond, Keosha Richmond, and Whitney Warren, Leychaunteya Burton ,Breonna Pringle, two bonus grandsons and 16 great-grandchildren.
