Bobby Isley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sharpe Funeral Home, Inc. on Jan. 24, 2026.
Bobby Lee Isley was born on November 7, 1941, to the late Maggie Ruth Isley and the late Henry Lee McGilberry. He was educated in the Guilford County School System and attended Sedalia High School.

Bobby began his working life as a farmer before becoming employed in the textile industry at Cone Mills, where he faithfully worked for eighteen years. After the closing of Cone Mills, he continued his strong work ethic at Commercial Levine Metals, where he remained until his retirement at the age of sixty-nine.

After retirement, Mr. Bobby-as many affectionately called him-found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid baseball fan-proudly cheering for the Los Angeles Dodgers, enjoyed watching westerns, and stayed keenly aware of current political events. "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly" - he truly never met a stranger, as he mentored many & gathered many "sons" throughout the years. A man of faith and service, Bobby was an active and devoted member of Clinton Memorial United Church of Christ. He served diligently as a Trustee and was a proud member of the Male Chorus.

Bobby Lee Isley peacefully transitioned from this life on January 23, 2026. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of over 63 years, Loraine Totten Isley, his children Sharon Allison, Dava Isley, Roberta Freeland (Scottey) and Yvonne Isley; God daughters Vanessa Totten, Felicia Floyd, Comecha Lewis, Karen Medina; one God son Bryan Jones; and God grandson Beanie Randall; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-granchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his children, the Late Raymond Totten, Late John Totten, and the Late Larry Totten and his father Henry McGilberry and mother Maggie Ruth Isley.

Bobby's life was a blessing to all who knew him. His legacy of love, laughter, and faith will forever live on in our hearts.
