Joyce LaVerne Nentrup, 85, of Columbus, passed away at 9:34 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Born September 29, 1937, in Scipio, she was the daughter of the late Minor and Virgie (Hartwell) Beesley. She married George Nentrup on August 7, 1974, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Seymour; he survives.
Joyce worked for several years for Amos Plastic in Edinburgh and had also worked for Sharps Nursing Home in Columbus. She was a member of Baptist Faith Church. Joyce was artistic and was a designer who enjoyed crafts, flower gardening and country music. She loved family get togethers and reunions.
Surviving with her husband, George, are her son, Rusty (Katonna) Sharp of Martinsville; stepdaughters, Stephanie Ulrey of Seymour, and Sherry (Roger) West of Columbus; sister, Phyllis Maschino of Seymour; grandchildren, Amanda (Matt) Muller of Monrovia, Cheyenne Sharp of Martinsville; step grandchildren, Shannon Cox of Columbus, Shawn Neal, Colin (Alexa) Ulrey and Jalen Ulrey, all of Seymour; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frank, Earl and Kenneth Beesley; and sisters, Rose McDonald, Bea Griffin, Margaret Leonard, Janice Lovitt and Roberta Mize.
A funeral service for Joyce will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. John Armstrong officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2022, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Scipio Cemetery in Scipio.
Memorials may be made in honor of Joyce through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
