Joyce Ann Nickett, age 75, of Greeneville, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Joyce was born on July 18, 1950, into the home of the late Helene Bromley LeBreton and Norman Joseph LeBreton Sr., of Gardner, Massachusetts.
Joyce graduated from Athol High School in 1968. She began her career as a Candy Striper before achieving her Certified Nursing Assistant license. She worked in the nursing field as a CNA until she married her husband. Joyce then attended Kellogg Community College and received her Child Development Associate Credential with a 4.0 GPA.
She was a very intelligent woman in many different areas, but none more important or memorable than her loving, self-sacrificing acts of service for others, including her family. Joyce worked as an infant caregiver, an in-home elderly caregiver, a pharmacy technician, as well as working within convalescent homes. She spent her life in servitude to others and by spreading God’s love through her acts of kindness. “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” - Mother Teresa.
In June of 1976, Joyce met John Russell Nickett Sr, and they were married in August of 1976. They celebrated 50 years of marriage. John and Joyce had three children, twins John Jr and Jennifer on April 2, 1977, and Jason on April 3, 1980.
When the children were born, Joyce decided to dedicate her life to being a loving mother. She worked hard to care for, and fight for, her children throughout their life’s toughest moments. She excelled at building up every member of her family. She was their biggest cheerleader. She supported them through the many passions, difficulties, and triumphs of their lives. Joyce made it her mission to improve the lives of others and to help them whenever needed. “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.” - Mother Teresa.
Joyce was a devout Catholic and very involved within her church, which included being a member of Marriage Encounter, working with many on Cursillo retreats, and was a part of many love circles and prayer groups. She devoted her life to serving the Lord our God always striving to treat others as He did on earth. She was always there to pray with family members and friends. Joyce exhibited her love for God in the way she treated others. “Holiness is not for wimps, and the cross is not negotiable.” - Mother Angelica.
Joyce loved to crochet, bake, and cook for her family and friends, especially during the holidays. She made every Christmas very special. She had the most fun playing games and spending quality time with her family in many ways including snuggling up to watch movies together. When Joyce wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found caring for others. We will miss her immensely and our lives will never be the same without her.
Along with her parents, those preceding Joyce in death include: her brothers, Norman LeBreton Jr and Rodger LeBreton; her sisters-in-law, Diane Potts, Peggy Beaubien, and Mary Niquette; and her brothers-in-law, Ron Niquette, Ken Nickett, and Jerry Nickett.
Joyce is survived by: her loving husband, John Nickett Sr.; her children, John Jr., Jennifer, and Jason; her daughters-in-law, Jessica and Jennifer; her son-in-law, Brian; her grandchildren, Isabella, Henry, John, Brayden, and Juliana; her sisters, Kathy Dould and Sheila Adams; and her nieces and nephew, Briana and Christopher.
A Visitation of family and friends is scheduled from 10:00am till 11:00am Friday, February 13, 2026, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am immediately following the Visitation.
The Committal Service for Joyce will be at 1:00pm on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Mountain Home National Cemetery, in the Historic Section. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50pm.
