My condolences to Joyce's family and all the wonderful people at Sendaishi Pet Resort. I have been taking dogs there for decades. Joyce was helpful in advising me about my dogs with arthritis. She understood her clients, both people and animal, well. So sorry for you all.

I can still hear Joyce's girly giggle in my head, the one that so belied her courage and strength of will. She ran the boarding kennel with integrity and a fierce commitment to excellence, and I often enjoyed visiting and occasionally helping out with an eye clinic or some other event. She was my go-to expert when I couldn't quite pin down what was wrong with a dog. We met at a dog show in the mid-90s, and she took pity on my obvious inexperience. She helped me groom, show, and get nice photos of my dog (even though we were technically competitors). When we moved to NH a few years later, Bill and Joyce became our guides, mentors, and dearest friends. We spent many happy times together mushing, paddling, listening to music, going to dog shows and just talking. Indeed, on one memorable road trip to Virginia, Joyce and I talked so much that I lost my voice for weeks! She was so proud of gaining her canine rehabilitation certification, and launched into its practice with gusto. The NH and northern MA dog community lost a great resource when she became too ill to work. Those of us who knew her well have lost even more. Godspeed, Joyce.

So sad to hear of Joyce's passing. I have very fond memories of her and working at Sendaishi. She taught me so much and I respected her greatly. Thinking of you Bill during this trying time, God has a special place for her in Heaven and I'm sure she is surrounded by all her Malamutes.

It was so sad to hear of Joyce's passing. I had worked with Joyce back at Amoskeag Bank when Sendaishi was her part time job. Nothing was ever part time for Joyce. I then went on to send my labs for years to Sendaishi and always loved catching up with Joyce on drop off and pick up. Rest In Peace Joyce

When I met Joyce in 2015 I was an employee at Sendaishi. Joyce had already began her fight with Alzheimer's Disease but she never failed to walk down to the kennel to clean each morning. She was a very hard working woman with an obvious passion for animals. For 6 years I have listened to countless customers tell me stories about how much they loved Joyce and appreciated all of the extra work she put in to ensure each pet was happy and comfortable, from hand feeding dogs to even taking some home! Joyce's love for animals and impressive work ethic really shows through in the business she and her husband Bill built. I will always be grateful for the dog knowledge and life lessons I have learned from Joyce and Bill in my time at Sendaishi.

Joyce will surely be missed in the Malamute community. She was so knowledgeable and helpful to me as a newbie back in the 90's. The last few years were so cruel to her but she endured with Bill's help. I am so sorry for your loss, Bill . I know it was difficult but you stuck with her. Her spirit will always be with you and all the dogs.

Bill , my deepest condolences. I knew Joyce only as a voice on the phone I worked for you in late 86-87 with a co worker named Angela. Joyce was still at the bank , but I often spoke with her on the phone ,when something was going on in the kennel and you were not available. She was always very kind and helpful to me . I believe I met her once briefly when she was checking on the Malamutes.. good good memories of working there ..Again so sorry Bill..

Bill, my memory as cousins. As kids we played at the Stein Farm as kids, Easter Sundays was the best looking for eggs, running around with Joyce's collie, we went thru high school together and graduated, meeting at Dunkin' Donuts in Manchester where she worked, meeting with Joyce at the bank when I returned home from the military, knowing Joyce was such a hard worker. Then the two of you opened the kennels and building the business into a huge success. Your trips to the lake. It is comforting to know that Bill cared so deeply for Joyce as a wife and cared for her so deeply thru her illness. A quote that fits. (Learning that death ends a life but not the relationship keep the memories) as we all will. Our condolences as you grieve Love Doug and Terry

Dear Bill, I knew Joyce through showing Malamutes at various specialties over the years. I was saddened to hear of her alzheimer's diagnosis (my father passed from the same) and the shared experience often made me think of you both - even though we were just acquaintances. Please accept my sincerest condolences. Rest peacefully, Joyce.

We first met Joyce at the Gettysburg specialty, it was that last drink she came back and had with us that saved Jazz's life that night. I remember Joyce telling me the next day because she had come back and had another drink with us she had gone afterwards and rechecked the dogs. We then visited Sendaishi and met Bill, this was the start of our trips out to Chinook kennels, which will always hold a special place in our hearts.
One of my fondest memories of Joyce was at the Oconomowoc specialty when she came out for dinner with a bunch of rowdy Aussies and Canadians, I will always remember her laughing and smiling.
Over the years we became friends with Vicki and Dave and enjoyed some wonderful visits to Sendaishi with them, one of the highlights was taking Joyce to Vicki and Dave's place in Rhode Island and spending a great day out in town and lunch at an Irish Pub.
Joyce, we will miss seeing you again, you and Bill bred some of the best malamutes I have ever seen and I remember them all fondly.
Rest in peace lovely lady with your beautiful malamutes and pug.
Our deepest condolences to Bill xx

I have the fondest memories of times in the ring competing with Joyce and her incredible malamutes. When she was on the end of the lead of one of her dogs, you knew you had your work cut out for you in the rain. She was always a strong competitor with a quality exhibit, but outside the ring she was a beautiful friend. Our breed has lost a very important person who held so much influence and gave back to the breed as a whole through her service with our breed Club. She has left a legacy that will never be forgotten. Rest peacefully, Joyce, and look after the malamutes north of the rainbow bridge for us. Our deepest condolences to Bill, family and friends

we knew Joyce for our mutual dog sledding events. I found here to be very charming, outgoing and extremely knowledgeable in all matters relating to dogs. Had the pleasure of attending several events at their beautiful Sendaishi Pet Resort. Her love of the world class Malamutes that she and Bill raced, showed and bred was infectious and she just glowed being around the dogs. Joyce will be greatly missed by all those that had the pleasure to meet her. Our hearts go out to Bill, but rest assured she is in a far better place and will probably be having the time of her life with the mushers that have gone before her. RIP Joyce.

Joyce, you will be remembered by me as the rock behind Bill, together creating the legendary Sendaishi Kennels to which I and many others owe so much. Bill stood by you till the last day in a love rarely seen, and an example. You will be greeted at the gates by those who went before you, many Alaskan Malamutes, and other dogs. Rest in Peace, Joyce, and all strenght to Bill

I had the pleasure of knowing Joyce for nearly 20 years and was honored to consider her a friend. I've always admired her and enjoyed watching her expertly handling her dogs in the show ring. Her beloved Sendaishi dogs are behind every dog in my kennel since my gorgeous Penny in 2003. I will be forever grateful to Joyce & Bill for that. Godspeed, Joyce. You've left us much too soon and will be missed by many. ❤❤

I met Joyce when I started working at Sendaishi in 2014. Joyce was battling Alzheimer's at that time but was still coming to the kennel every morning and every afternoon; still helping clean the kennel. I'll never forget the second home that I call Sendaishi and the knowledge that I've gained from Joyce and Bill. You will be forever be know for your intelligence and being such a powerful woman. Rest In Peace Joyce
