Kay Stockton Parkhurst, age 83, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025 in Monroe, NC. She was born on April 27, 1941 in Gastonia, NC to Everette Lee Stockton and Monnie Ida Peeler Stockton. Kay was a proud resident of Gastonia, NC and was a graduate of the former Ashley High School and Evans Business College. She married Robert Edwin Parkhurst in 1969 and had three children. She worked as an administrative assistant to a law firm and a medical practice. Then, she proudly served as church secretary at First Baptist Gastonia for many years. Kay was an incredible baker, known for her special gingerbread houses, and enjoyed sewing and other crafts. Kay loved the beach where she could spend quality time with her family, and she was most proud of her sons and three granddaughters. Kay is survived by her sons, Sean Parkhurst (Stacy) and Patrick Parkhurst (Allison); brothers Danny Stockton, Johnny Stockton, and Mike Stockton; granddaughters Sydney Parkhurst, Lauren Parkhurst, and Madison Parkhurst as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her spouse, a sister, Anne Dawkins, and an infant son, Stephen Matthew Parkhurst. Family are at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers, as Kay was a breast cancer survivor, memorials may be made to the Oconee Memorial Hospital Foundation (Seneca Cancer Institute), 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, SC 29672.
