Services for Cordell Perry will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Hilliard Funeral Home with a graveside to follow at Sand Flat Cemetery.
Joyce Cordell Adams Perry was born October 24, 1930, in the Sand Flat community of Van Zandt County. She had been a resident of Van for 70 years, formerly living in El Campo and Sherman. She owned The Van Smart Shop for 17 years. She was also a talented seamstress, baker, and lover of flowers and gardening. Cordell was a faithful member of Van Church of Christ, where she actively attended Ladies Bible Class and taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the Van Oil Museum. Through their longstanding dedication to the Van community, Cordell and her husband, Jack, were honored as one of the Mr. & Mrs. Yesteryear recipients.
Mrs. Perry was a wonderful mother and homemaker, always doing things for her girls. She served as a Vandal band parent, cheer sponsor, and was known for her beautiful and delicious cakes and pies.
Cordell went to be with the Lord on May 19, 2025, at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Jack Perry (2021); parents, Howard & Mable Adams; and brother, Denman Ray Adams.
Survivors include her three daughters, Janice Thomas and husband, Michael, Renee McPherson and husband, Pat, and Denna Perry; sister, Dorcas Allen and husband, Dick; grandchildren and their spouses, Christi & Roger Ledebur, Jason & Ryan Head, Eric & Angie McPherson, Evan & Becca McPherson, Ryan McPherson, Ashley & Nick Sockwell, and Brandon Patterson; fourteen great-grandchildren, Braden, Luke, Hope, Rider, Riley, Sloane, Miller, Rhett, Sierra, Landon, Sadie, Bonnie, Annie, and Jack, ; and numerous close cousins.
Pallbearers will be Michael Thomas, Pat McPherson, Roger Ledebur, Jason Head, Eric McPherson, Evan McPherson, Ryan McPherson, and Brandon Patterson.
