Joyce Piagari

Joyce Piagari, age 82, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026 surrounded by her loving sons, Joe and Chris. Born February 24, 1943, to the late Harold and late Mildred Evje (nee Lundmann). Beloved wife of the late Richard J. Piagari. Loving mother of the late Thomas (Leslie), Joseph (Erin O'Shaugnessy), and Christopher (Bridget) Piagari. Cherished grandmother "Nonna" of Gabriella, Dylan, Carter, and Michael. Fond sister-in-law, cousin, and aunt to many nieces and nephews, along with being a kind and faithful friend to many.

She had a heart that was very loving, full of kindness and overall just very sweet. She was a devoted wife to her husband and rock for 53 years, devoted mom to her three sons and a proud Nonna to her four grandchildren. She loved her family, loved cooking for her family, and loved hosting for her family. She got involved in her kids' activities, whether it was being a Den Mother, running the concession stand for Little League, being the Hot Lunch lady at school or chaperoning field trips. She attended any event, whether it was sports, music, or academic related, that involved any one of her grandchildren. She worked many years at the old Des Plaines Library when it was located at Graceland and Thacker. In her retirement years, Dick and Joyce traveled extensively, went to many White Sox baseball games, Northwestern Football games (no matter the weather), and saw many musicals and plays downtown and at local suburban theaters, like Marriott Lincolnshire. She was a great listener with an open heart and will be remembered as that kind and gentle soul.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 13, 2026 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2025 at 10:30 am at the funeral home.
