I met my dear friend, Joyce, in 1974 when I joined the Southern Bell team. Joyce and I became friends instantly. For Christmas that year I gave her a Christmas tin filled with chocolate fudge. The next year she filled the tin with one of her favorite recipes. We continued this exchange over the years. This past Christmas made our 50th get-to-gather exchange! The Christmas tin ended up in hands this past year. I am going to miss this tradition but I know Joyce is in a better place and I look forward to seeing her again. I love you Joyce and my thoughts and prayers are with Glen and the family.

Joyce was always so active in mission work with the church. She was a regular who joined a group that works on Mission Tuesdays preparing food at the Soup Kitchen at Lincoln Christian Ministries, bagging food for distribution at Ashure Ministry for Catawba County, preparing Christmas Boxes for children in Armenia at the UMC Mission Response Center in Terrell, NC, and sorting clothes for sale in the East Lincoln Christian Ministries Thrift Store. She was joyful in her service and a delight to have around. I will miss her terribly.
