Joyce Hardee Putnam

 

Smithfield, NC: Mrs. Joyce Hardee Putnam, age 78, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  Graveside Funeral Services will be 2:00PM-Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield, NC. Rev. Brian Beasley will officiate. Family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service.                  

Mrs. Putnam was born on November 23, 1944 in Wake County to the late Lawrence Grimes and Vergie Clifton Hardee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Putnam; and a granddaughter, Megan Alexandra Putnam; brother, Francis Grimes Hardee.  Mrs. Putnam was a retired paralegal and adjudicator with the North Carolina Employment Security Commission. She was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church in Smithfield, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Putnam loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens.     

Surviving include her son, Stephen C. Putnam; daughters, Clara F. Putnam and Dana C. Lee; grandchildren, Shay Putnam and Daphne Misakian; sisters, Bernice Hardee and Sherry Pilkington; several nieces and nephews.                                

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pisgah Baptist Church, 3689 NC Highway 210, Smithfield, NC 27577 or to The Salvation Army in Smithfield, NC.
