Joyce R. Smith
Auburn Community- Joyce R. Smith, age 83, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025. She was born on November 18, 1941; the daughter of Ola Hicks Carrol and Odis Hoyle Robbins.
Joyce lived a life filled with love, faith, and simple joys. She took great pride in caring for her home and especially her yard, where she found peace and delight among her flowers. Her flower garden was her sanctuary, and she shared its beauty with family and friends who visited.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Joyce’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling, seeing new places, and making lasting memories along the way. A woman of deep faith, she loved gospel music and the comfort it brought, and she was a faithful member of Calvary Assembly Worship Center.
Those who knew Joyce will remember her gentle spirit, her love for beauty and family, and the warmth she shared so freely. Her presence brought joy and comfort, and her memory will continue to bloom in the lives of all who loved her.
She is survived by her son, Rickey Lynn Smith; grandchildren, Colten Underwood (Kate), Courtney Blackwood, Terry Smith, Christopher Smith, Lindy Parker, Colen Glidwell, Laken Glidwell, and Madison Glidwell; and great-grandchildren, Harley Underwood, Lillyana Underwood, Arlena Underwood, Cooper Myhand, and Chloe Myhand.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Odis Robbins and Ola Hicks Carrol; husband, Wilburn Smith; and brother, Odis "Hoyle" Robbins, Jr.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Pegues, Tupelo.
Services will be 3:30 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues with Bro. Ben Raper officiating. A graveside service will follow at Fellowship Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Butch Glidwell, Terry Gress, Joe Murphy, Johnny Chaney, Phillip Garrison, and Tony Kelly.
Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews; and friends.
