My heart is heavy because my Friend Joyce M. Range is gone. I met Joyce formally through Shirley Haynes Barnett. We had a hurricane party at her house in the wake of Ike. We had a cake, food and plenty to drink to keep us hydrated. We talked, and ate and talked some more. I went to sleep and woke up,Joyce and Shirley was still talkin and laughing till the good Lord cut the lights off. Then everybody went to sleep.I met Sis. Josie Breeler through Joyce and a few of her friends from Greater First. She and Shirley Barnett hoodwinked me into playing for A Black History program that Joyce hooked up at Winterhaven. This year would be the last time I would hear her sing Never grow old. We were suppose to be writing a book about our experience being church musicians. Book entitled "What Us Gonna Do". Shirley and I will finish with a few others. I will dedicate this book to her. I will cherish the memory of My Friend forever. Sleep on my Friend for you have crossed over into the land of No More. No pain suffering or pills.See you in the morning. I Love You.

If angels can be defined as, spiritual beings that act as God's messengers in human form, you would be hard pressed to find a greater example than in the person of Sis. Joyce M.Range. Many a soul has found themselves either lifted on the mighty wings of song over the span of her anointed and faithful music ministry. Or maybe it was just her encouraging smile, and that trademark "all- knowing" wink.Truly a light has left this world. Rest well now Minister though your earthly symphony has ended, its heavenly refrain shall linger in our hearts forever.

My sincere condolences are expressed to the Range family. Joyce was a blessing to me and my family. I will always remember the basic skills that she taught us while singing in the choir. Telling us to sit up straight, and breathe. I still practice those skills today. Thank You Lord for my sister in Christ! Sister Julia Smith
