Joyce Ellen Rydzik, age 95, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, surrounded by love and care.
Born on March 29, 1929, to Adelbert and Fern Henderson, Joyce grew up in Sylvania, Ohio, and graduated from Sylvania Burnham High School. She married Ed Rydzik, and together they built a life filled with love, adventure, and cherished memories.
Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found great joy in spending summers at their cottage at the Valley of the Pines in Angola, Indiana, where she and Edward created countless memories with family and friends. Their shared love of travel took them across the country, fostering a lifetime of unforgettable experiences.
A long-time member of Zion United Methodist Church, Joyce lived a life rooted in faith and service. She is remembered for her conversational nature, sincere honesty, sharp wit, and the joy she brought to those around her with her infectious laugh and smile.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Adelbert and Fern, her beloved husband, Ed, and her son, Dean. She is survived by her son, Jeff (Julie) Nye; grandson, Josh Nye; granddaughter, Samantha (Tony) Mason; and great-grandson, Cooper Mason.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Karen Devault and Mary Jo Gallaher for their compassionate care over the years, as well as to the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Christian Home Care, and all the other helping hands who supported Joyce in her later years.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, January 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Anne Grady Center.
