Obituary published on Legacy.com by Coyle Funeral and Cremation Services - Toledo on Mar. 17, 2026.
John William (Bill) Bennett, devoted husband and father, died Saturday, March 14, 2026. He was born September 27, 1936, to the late Roy and Evelyn Bennett.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet, his sister, Dorothy and Tom Dalton, and his brother Ernie. He leaves their four daughters, Denise Bennett, Christine (Fred) Custer, Jeanne (David) Faulds, and Lynette Bennett, to mourn his loss. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Janet (Jonathan) Rollins, Alfred Custer, Rita (Taylor) Etcheson, Grace (Paul) Watters, John (Lindsay) Custer, Daniel (Emma Ruohoniemi) Custer, and Nicholas Faulds, and his ten great-grandchildren, Elise, Nathan, and Allison Rollins; Claire and Andrew Etcheson; Cailan Watters; Holly, Piper, and baby (on the way) Custer, and Katia Custer-Niemi. In addition, he is survived by his siblings, Ginny Bennett and Rosemary (Mike) Gray.

Bill was a wonderful father and true Christian who led by example. As a member of St. Joseph Parish in Maumee, he volunteered in many capacities over the years.

Bill worked as a credit manager after graduating with a business degree from the University of Toledo. He spent more than 20 years with Ohio Plate Glass followed by about 10 years with Estech/Vigoro. He was a lifetime member of the NACM.

The family requests no flowers, but rather a donation may be given to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Sunshine Children's Home, or Heartbeat of Toledo, all very close to his heart.

Friends may visit at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd, on Thursday, March 19, from 3-8 pm, with the Rosary at 7pm. The funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Maumee on Friday, March 20. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
