Mrs. Joyce A. (Hinkle) Schittler, 83, of Fleetwood, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, June 2, 2024, in Shillington, PA.
Born September 3, 1940, in Walnuttown, Joyce was the daughter of the late James and Elvina (Hinkel) Hinkle. Her husband of 61 years, Linford J. "Jack" Schittler, passed away on June 5, 2022.
Joyce worked as a secretary for St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, Pinnacle Refrigerator Company and Garden State Tanning. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's where in addition to working as the secretary, she was on the choir for 48 years, taught Sunday School, played piano and was a member of the Altar Guild. Joyce also was a Sunday School teacher for Walnuttown Sunday School.
Joyce was a 1948 graduate of Fleetwood Area High School and truly enjoyed cross stitching, antiquing, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her children, Mark A. Schettler, husband of Susan M. (Decker) Schettler, Millersville, and Beth A. (Schittler) Endy, wife of Barry L. Endy, Chincoteague, VA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Harrison, Elizabeth, Peyton and Mary.
Along with her husband, Jack, and her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her siblings, Albert, Rachel, Mabel, Fern, Loretta, Russell, and Mary.
Private Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fleetwood. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Union Cemetery, Fleetwood.
Donations may be made in Joyce's memory to the St. Francis Home, 144 Hillside Drive, Reading, PA 19607, or to the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 117 E. Arch St, Fleetwood, PA 19522.
