Joyce Ann Schooler

Joyce Ann Schooler, 80, sadly passed Feb. 23, 2026, in Mesquite, NV. She grew up as a resident of Co. Spgs. In 2017 she moved to Mesquite to support the health needs of her beloved husband, Ron DeJesus.

Joyce is lovingly remembered by her stepsons, Mark DeJesus and Kirk (Shannon) DeJesus, 4 grandchildren, brothers Terry (Barb) Schooler, Mike (Susan) Schooler, sisters Connie Goodwin (Tom) Karen Schooler, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Berniece Schooler, husband, Ron DeJesus, and recently, brother-in-law, Neil Utz. She loved her family and supported them all with warmth, generosity, and care.

Joyce graduated from St. Mary's in 1964, and earned her teaching degree from Western State. She became a dedicated elementary teacher in Dist. #11 for 20 years. Following this, she taught 10 years GED in the El Paso County Jail. She was an empathetic, talented educator who worked with challenging students. She had a lifelong commitment to learning, later earning her MA and MBA from UCCS.

While teaching, she and her husband also owned and managed Anthony's Italian Restaurant. Her natural people skills, humor, and strong leadership created a welcoming environment for employees and customers.

Joyce was an enthusiastic recreational golfer. Through teaching and golfing she made lifelong, supportive friends in Colorado and in Mesquite. Known for her vibrant personality and quick wit, she was often the life of the party! Joyce had a special gift for turning ordinary gatherings into joyful celebrations!

Interment will be for immediate family at Evergreen Cemetery on April 22, 3:00. Following this, extended family and friends please join us at 4:00, CO Spgs Country Club, to celebrate Joyce's life.
