Gladys Joyce Schultz, 84, of North Manchester and formerly of Warsaw, Indiana passed peacefully at 1:56 am, Friday, Jan. 3, 2025 at Peabody Retirement Community of North Manchester, Indiana.
Joyce, known as Babe to family and friends, was born on Sept. 22, 1940 in Lenore, West Virginia to the late Willard and Irene (Deskins) Blair. She was a 1958 graduate of Lenore High School. She married on Aug. 12, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois to Paul W. Schultz, who preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 1986.
She worked for Woodlawn Hospital of Rochester and for the former Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw. Joyce also was a longtime member of the Pathway Church, previously known as the Warsaw Wesleyan Church, of Warsaw.
She is survived by her daughter Melinda and husband Donald Burton of Mentone; son Warren and wife Jestina Schultz of Rochester; a grandson Zack Schultz; brother Gary Blair of Lenore, West Virginia; sisters Wanda Sheppard of Gahanna, Ohio, and Carrie "Sis" Alexander of Lenore, West Virginia; sister-in-law Leal Blair of Chicago; many beloved nieces and nephews; and longtime companion Dewayne Brubaker of North Manchester.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, sisters Merle Sheppard and Ann Damron, brother Howard, brother-in-laws Charles "Shep" Sheppard and Charles "Fuzz" Alexander.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband at a future date in the Blair Family Cemetery near Lenore, West Virginia.
Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County.
