Joyce Elizabeth Shehorn, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on March 24, 2025, at the age of 85.
Born July 13, 1939, in Greer, Missouri, Joyce was the daughter of Christopher Ford and Gladys Williams Ford. She grew up surrounded by love and faith, which remained the foundation of her life.
On August 5, 1965, Joyce was united in marriage to the cherished love of her life, Ron Shehorn. They were blessed with one daughter, Ronda Shehorn, and together they created a family filled with love, immeasurable joy, and lots of laughter. Joyce's life was defined by her devotion to her family, friends, and God. She poured her heart into nurturing those she loved. A fierce advocate for those in need, she was known for opening her home to anyone in search of fellowship, always creating a warm space where others could feel welcome, valued, and loved. Known throughout her family and community as a powerful prayer warrior, Joyce used her careers as a hairdresser and Avon representative not only to make others feel beautiful but also to share her faith and offer encouragement in her own unique way. Joyce had a variety of hobbies that brought her immense joy. She loved painting beautiful ceramics, tending to her flower gardens, decorating her home, baking delicious treats for those she loved, and camping with her husband and family. Her energetic personality, sharp wit, and mischievous sense of humor made her a delight to be around.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Christopher and Gladys Ford; her stepmother, Ina Ford; her beloved sister, Judy Hawkins; two adored brothers, Follis Christopher Ford and Phil Ford; and four siblings who passed in infancy: Follis Daniel, Faria Anna, Flora Pearl, and May.
Joyce is survived by her devoted husband, Ron Shehorn, of the family home; her adoring daughter, Ronda Shehorn, of Springfield, Missouri; her two treasured grandchildren, Tia Calfee (Nic Kiger) of Springfield and Trevor Calfee (Allie London) of Springfield; her loving sister, Pat Brummett (Walter Brummett) of Rolla, Missouri; her beloved dog, Tim; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws who filled her heart with delight. Joyce's legacy of love, faith, and kindness leaves behind a deep and lasting imprint on the hearts of her family and friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Clary Funeral Home in Alton, Missouri, with burial at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
