Joyce Shrader Obituary

JOYCE MARIE SHRADER Joyce Marie Shrader, 86, of Atchison, Kansas, died November 18, 2024, at Gran Villas of Atchison. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home in Atchison, Kansas, with Rev. Keith Hoover officiating the service. Burial will follow at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Rushville, MO. Visitation with the family will take place 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Gran Villas or to St. Croix Hospice. Condolences may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com Joyce was born January 23, 1938, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Clinton and Elsie (Worner) Smith. Joyce graduated from ACCHS in 1956 and shortly after, in June of 1959, she married Lee Eckert, they were married for over twenty-five years before later divorcing. Joyce then married John Shrader in January of 1987 and moved to Texas, they later divorced. Joyce worked as a secretary for ACCHS USD 377, for over two decades, till she retired. She enjoyed reading, playing Bingo, Skip-Bo, and watching game shows. Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune were her favorites. Joyce loved going out to lunch with her children to grab a slice of pizza and Mountain Dew. She was also a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. Joyce is survived by her sons; Douglas (Connie) Eckert, and Dave (Stacy) Eckert, daughters; Denise (Shawn) Vandeloo and Donna Williams, nine grandchildren, Jordan, Paige, Dane, Cory, Taylor, Bodie, Landen, Blayne, and Quade, eight great-grandchildren, Eme, Ethan, August, Ellarie, Maycie, Norah, Zeion, and Zeimer and sister Jan Heitschmidt. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Junior, Jerry, and Jack Smith, and sister, Julia Osgood.
