It is with deep love, cherished memories and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Joyce Yvonne Simmonds, who went home to be with the Lord on October 18, 2025, at her residence in Greenburgh, New York. She was 90 years old.
Born on October 9, 1935, in Kingston, Jamaica, Joyce lived a full and beautiful life devoted to family, faith, and service to others. She was the beloved wife of the late Lloyd James Simmonds, who preceded her in death on October 20, 1992.
Joyce dedicated more than 30 years of her life as a Registered Nurse at White Plains Hospital, where she compassionately cared for countless patients and touched the lives of many through her dedication and kindness.
A woman of deep faith, Joyce was a proud and active longstanding member of Bronx Westchester Community Church of God. Joyce's faith guided her every step, and she found great joy in fellowship and worship.
Joyce had a passion for exploring the world; her adventurous spirit taking her far beyond her homeland - traveling across Australia, Asia, Europe and South America - embracing the beauty and diversity of God's creation wherever she went.
Joyce is lovingly remembered by her daughters Dionne Simmonds-Carter (Gregory) and Jennifer Simmonds-Bradshaw (Angelo Jr.); her siblings Noel Williams Sr., Winston Williams, Bertram Williams (Lonelle), and Sandra Puletz (Michael); her grandchildren Rahsaan, (Devin) Amara, Danaiya, and Shae; and her great-grandson Evan. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, as follows:
Wake: 9:00 a.m. - 11:00a.m.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Burial: 1:15 p.m.(Kensico Cemetery)
Repass: 2:30 p.m. (1st Community Church of the Nazarene, Elmsford, NY)
Joyce's legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. As we honor her memory, we rejoice in knowing that Joyce has returned home to her Creator - reunited with loved ones who have gone before her, resting in eternal peace and radiant in God's everlasting light.
