Joyce Marie Stein, a cherished soul and lifelong resident of
Austin, Texas, was called to her eternal home on July 14, 2025, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on March 29, 1941, in the same city she loved and lived in for most of her life, Joyce's journey was marked by faith, love, and an unwavering commitment to her community.
A proud graduate of Travis High School in 1959, Joyce furthered her education at Durham's Business College, where she honed the skills that would serve her well in her professional life. She embarked on a fulfilling career as a business administrator at Paul's Interiors, where her meticulous attention to detail and warm interpersonal skills were greatly valued. Joyce's career path also led her to meaningful roles with the Universal City Baptist Church, Texas Industrial Vocational Association, Texas School Food Service Association, Merry Maids, and the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals' Association of Texas. Her work ethic and dedication to service were a testament to her character.
Joyce's Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life. She not only practiced her beliefs but lived them through her actions. As a devoted member of her church, she was a beacon of light and hope for many. Joyce's spiritual journey included serving as a Girls in Action leader, a Girl Scout Leader, a Den Mother for Cub Scouts, and a Sunday School teacher. She poured her heart into church activities, ensuring that her light shone brightly within her community.
Her interests were as diverse as they were engaging. Joyce had a deep love for animals and found joy in simple pleasures such as playing board games, dominoes, cards and working on puzzles. The melodies of Southern Gospel music often filled her home, uplifting her spirit and those around her. Joyce's life was a reflection of the well-known saying attributed to St. Francis of Assisi, "For it is in giving that we receive." She gave abundantly, not only to her family but to everyone whose life she touched.
Joyce's commitment to her family was unwavering, and she was actively engaged in the extra-curricular activities of her children. Her support and guidance were the foundation upon which they built their dreams. Her legacy is one of love, service, and the beauty of a life well-lived.
As we bid farewell to Joyce Marie Stein, we remember a woman whose life was a portrait of service and love-a true testament to her faith. She walked the earth with grace and left it with the assurance that her impact will continue to resonate through the countless lives she touched. We celebrate her journey, cherish her memory, and find comfort in knowing that she rests in the loving arms of her Creator.
