Joyce Herring Strickland

Mrs. Joyce Herring Strickland, age 92 of Douglasville, GA passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Mrs. Strickland was born October 20, 1931 in Bessemer, AL. and raised in Attalla, AL with her 2 sisters.
Mrs. Strickland lived in Attalla, AL before moving to Andalusia, AL where she worked at Alatex, Inc. She transferred with Alatex, Inc. in 1984 and moved to Atlanta, Georgia. After many years she retired and began a new career as Medical Receptionist for Dr. Joseph Nichols, Sr. in Atlanta, GA and formally retired after many years.
Mrs. Strickland was strong in her Christian Faith, where she was involved in the New Prospect Methodist Church in Buford, GA and LifeGate Church in Villa Rica, GA. Mrs. Strickland loved reading, walking outside on a beautiful day, cooking and shopping. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and had a special bond and adoration for her "Fur baby " and companion Bella.
Preceding in her death is her parents Leonard Winters Herring and Ethel Cosby Herring, late husbands Charles H. Strickland and Herman Edwin Runyan and her sister, Aileen McKay.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters Dale Brown (Bill) of Douglasville, GA and Jimmae Hollis of Ft. Worth, TX. Sons, Herman Runyan (Mark Nichols) of Buford, GA, Bruce Strickland, Wayne Strickland (Emily) both of Athens, OH. Her sister, Linda Gail Robinson of Villa Rica, GA. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Sierra Werries (Alex), Shelby Ferguson(Joey), Caitlin Brown, Carrie Moore, Elisa Gattis (Alan) Bonnie Fair (Joshua) James Strickland, Nathan Strickland, John Strickland (Kelly), Holly Stradley(Stephen), Sandy Strickland, Rachel Strickland, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
A Private Graveside service will be conducted, Monday, March 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM CST at the Valhalla Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama, where Mrs. Strickland will be laid to rest with Reverend Jennifer Hornbuckle(Niece) officiating.
