Joyce Claire Tallman, age 97, of Zephyrhills, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Pasco County, Florida.
Joyce was born on August 5, 1928, in Mercer County in Trenton to the late Leroy Wilkinson Cranstoun (1896–1989) and Gertrude Elizabeth DeVaul (1900–1968). She grew up in Trenton alongside her two siblings, the late Leroy Bruce Cranstoun (1923–2019) and the late Lois Matilda (Cranstoun) Carde (1925–2022).
On May 24, 1947, Joyce married the love of her life, Charles William Tallman Jr., in Trenton, New Jersey. They shared many wonderful years together until his passing on March 19, 2002.
Joyce graduated from Trenton Central High School in June 1946. She later worked for Union National Life Insurance, where she served as an Office Administrator and Cashier. She dedicated 25 years to the company before retiring in 1988. Even in retirement, Joyce remained active in her community and volunteered in the media center at Chester Taylor Jr. Elementary School from 2008 to 2013.
Throughout her life, Joyce lived in several places she cherished. She spent her childhood in Trenton, New Jersey, later lived in Harmony, Maryland, and moved to Tampa in 1955. By the mid-1960s, she settled in Zephyrhills, where she made her home for many decades.
Joyce had a deep love for horses and enjoyed cowboy music, reading books, and creating handcrafts. She also loved traveling and was proud to have visited every state in the United States as well as several countries abroad.
She is survived by her children:
Ellen Hartgraves (Danny) of Lakeland, Florida;
Gail Plomaritis (David) of Fort Payne, Alabama;
Ronald Tallman (Jutta) of Wesley Chapel, Florida;
Jacqueline Rohan (John) of Basehor, Kansas;
and Richard Tallman of Savannah, Georgia.
Joyce was also blessed with 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade city Florida to honor her life. Joyce will be laid to rest next to her late husband at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery.
Joyce will be remembered for her kindness, strong family values, and the love she shared with everyone around her. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and the many lives she touched.
