Joyce Tasch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home on Jan. 3, 2026.
Joyce Tasch, a beacon of faith and vibrancy, completed her earthly journey on December 30, 2025, in River Forest, Illinois, leaving behind a legacy of love, passion, and inspiration. She was born December 15, 1930, in Bloomington, Illinois, and from those early days, her life was a testament to the power of will and the beauty of a life well-lived. Joyce was a woman who embraced life, and her passionate heart was evident in everything she pursued. Education played a significant role in her journey; she studied at Dominican University, honing her talents in education and voice. She was a dedicated teacher in the Chicago Public Schools.

Joyce's voice was not only her instrument but her gift to the world, and she filled countless stages with her presence, leading community theater productions with grace and strength.

Beyond the classroom and the stage, Joyce was also an expert equestrian, competing successfully at state and national levels. Even into her eighties, her determination never wavered, and her success in the saddle was a testament to her enduring will to seize every moment with joy and excellence. She inspired her children and grandchildren to pursue her passions of teaching, music and horses.

She is lovingly remembered by her children Alcuin T, Gail, Martin (Jeanne), William (Brandi), and Robert (Alicia). The harmony of her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: William (Emily), Michael (Olivia), Kyle, John (Emma), Andrew (Heather), Elizabeth (Scott) Humbarger, Lyn, Kelly, Tori, Lance, and Max and great grandchildren Lucas, Benjamin, Cyrus and Oliver. She survived three husbands, Alcuin M. Tasch, Tom Zurek and John Lennon. Joyce's life was a symphony of faith-filled moments, a passionate pursuit of her God-given talents, and a loving embrace of family and friends. Her twice-earned title as Senior Idol was far more than an accolade; it was a reflection of a life lived with an indomitable spirit. Each performance, be it on horseback or under the spotlight, was an expression of her deeply rooted Catholic values-a melody of praise.

Visitation Tuesday (Jan. 6) 4:00 - 8:00pm at Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home 7319 W. Madison St., Forest Park, IL. I am sorry that we will not be able to attend the funeral service. We have great memories of Aunt Joyce, especially from the Tasch Christmas Eves and Fathers Day get togethers.
