Joyce Thorpe Obituary
Joyce was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Disputanta, where she shared her love for music as part of the Sanctuary Choir and Gospel Ministry until her health declined. She was also a passionate fan of the Washington Commanders, a testament to her spirited and joyful nature.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband Criss Thorpe; her devoted niece, Pamela Roache (Donnie Roache); her aunt, Catherine Moore (Howard); sisters-in-law Alma Manson, Laura Brooks, and Betty Link; and brothers-in-law Roylee Granderson (devoted), James Thorpe, Andrew Thorpe (Helen), and Raymond Robinson; Joyce is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, among them her dear friend, Lucille Turner.
Joyce was preceded in death by her three siblings Isaac Massenburg (Anne), Geraldine Mayes (Charles), Anniebelle Granderson, her nephew Joseph Mayes, and other relatives.
Joyce Ann Thorpe will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love of music, her family devotion, and the warmth she shared with everyone around her. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 10209 County Drive, Disputanta, VA. Rev. Clarence M. Thweatt Jr., Pastor of Mount Hope Baptist Church, Prince George,VA, will eulogize. Interment will follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park in Dinwiddie, VA.
