Memorial Service: 1 p.m., Friday at The Presbyterian Church in Danville
The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
Joyce Bramel Townes, 88, of Danville, Kentucky, died February 10th, 2023. She was born February 26, 1934, in Paris, Kentucky to the late Howard Nelson Bramel and Madeline Douglas Bramel. Growing up on a farm with her five siblings, Joyce understood the value of hard work. She graduated from the Nazareth School of Nursing in 1955 and became a Registered Nurse and worked for Kentucky State and Saint Joe Hospitals. She later became a nurse for Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Joyce enjoyed reading, cooking and baking for her family, traveling and gardening. She was a member of The Presbyterian Church in Danville. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband John A. Townes.
Survivors include her children, Libby (Mike) Siler, John (Vicky) Townes, Ellen (David) Casey and Tressa (Robert) Brown; brothers, Fred Bramel and Paul Bramel; grandchildren, Katie (Rick) Schmitt, Bennett Siler, Alex Townes, Madeline Townes, Doug Brown and Jacob Brown; and great-grandchildren, Kash Schmitt and William Schmitt.
The memorial service will be 1 p.m., Friday at The Presbyterian Church in Danville with Rev. Caroline Kelly officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society or Heritage Hospice.
