Mrs. Della Marie Townes, age 65, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at her residence.
Mrs. Townes was born in Roxboro, NC on December 4, 1960, to the late Emory Winstead and Ella Mae Walker. She received her education from the North Carolina Public School System. Early in life she worked at Russell Stover Candies, Sherwood Foods, Jonbil, and Revlon until she became disabled. Della enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved listening to music, going to church and doing activities with her church family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bartholomew Townes, and siblings, Emory, Jr., Tyrone, Charlie, Barbara Ann, Shirley, and Gloria.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory five children, Antonio Winstead (Chrystal) of Clarksville, VA, Bartholomew “Junior” Winstead of Clarksville, VA, Denise Winstead (Earnest) of Atlanta, GA, Andrew Winstead (Bianca) of Clover, VA, and Antione Winstead (Ashley) of Chase City, VA; nineteen grandchildren; two brothers, Michael Winstead and Ronnie Winstead both of Richmond, VA; sister, Sheila Winstead of Milton, NC; special friend, Ms. Mildred Fuller of Chase City, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
A memorial service for Mrs. Della Marie Townes will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Theodore Ferguson, officiating.
