Joyce Uchtman

Beatrice Joyce M. Uchtman (nee MacKenzie), 90, of Vermilion, died Monday, September 25, 2023 at Kingston of Vermilion after a brief illness.
She was born August 12, 1933 in New Castle, PA and had summered in Vermilion for many years before moving to Vermilion in 2015.
Joyce was devoted to her church and family and was always smiling. She enjoyed fine dining and traveling with her husband, often accompanying him on business trips and hosting memorable parties. A caring mother and grandmother, she supported her children in their athletic and performing arts activities. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends; famous for her special mustard, meatloaf and slow cooked brisket. She enjoyed playing tennis and golf, and was a supporter of and worked for the Cancer Society in both Cleveland and Pittsburgh as well as the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival. Since her very first Youth Camp, Beulah Beach held a special place in Joyce's heart, with many memories made throughout her life. She was thrilled to return there for her golden years with her husband.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Edwin Richard Uchtman Jr. of Vermilion, sons, Tad (Alyson) Uchtman of Japan and William Evan Uchtman of Shaker Heights; grandchildren, Justin Uchtman and Emma Uchtman; and her beloved dog, Ruby.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Evan and Vera (nee Uber) MacKenzie;and her sister, Grace Steele.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 13, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary Parish, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH 44089.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace United Methodist, 13406 W. Lake Road, Vermilion, OH 44089.
