JOYCE VENERABLE Obituary
Her Story
Joyce Faith Venerable was born on March 3, 1954, in the Circle City, Indianapolis, Indiana. Her loving mother was Catherine Ann Venerable. Joyce transitioned from labor to reward on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the age of 70, 3 months and 15 days. Joyce was baptized as an infant into the Roman Catholic faith at St. Rita Catholic Church and has been walking with the Lord ever since.
Joyce's matriculation process began at St. Rita Catholic School. She attended and graduated from Indianapolis Public School, George Washington High School. Upon graduation from High School, she attended Bishop College in Dallas, Texas. She returned to Indianapolis and worked with her mother in Catherine's Day Care and Catherine's Real Estate. Later, Joyce worked concurrently at Winona and Methodist Hospitals. After the closing of Winona Memorial Hospital, Joyce remained at Methodist as it transitioned to Clarian Health and ultimately Indiana University Health. She retired from Indiana University Health in April, 2024, just 8 days short of her 38 year work anniversary.
Joyce was a faithful member and ardent supporter of St. Rita Catholic Church. In her very understated and private way, Joyce was a financial angel and silent supporter of her Church. Even with failing health, Joyce made valiant effort to attend Mass. She was also a member of the St. Rita fundraising committee. She was an active member of St. Peter Claver, Ladies Auxiliary, Court #97.
Joyce was an extremely private and quite in her demeanor. She loved electronic games, Word Search and Sudoku. Joyce was known for her twice annual casino outing. She loved travel. Her favorite domestic travel location was Hawaii. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and the Caribbean. She loved R & B music, mostly Old School. Joyce spent countless hours texting and talking with one of her oldest and dearest childhood friends, Gwen Green. Attending parties and dinners at the Twitty house was always on her social outing schedule. Sincere appreciation to Vivian Hill, Judy Johnson, Sherrice Slack, Patricia and Kerry Conwell for loving on her and supporting her during her illness.
She was preceded in death by loving mother, Catherine Venerable, brother, John Brooks and former husband, John Neely.
Joyce leaves to cherish and honor her memory, a host of extended relatives, Church family and friends.
Humbly submitted on behalf and in honor of Joyce

Many precious Memories of my dear friend and former co-worker. Especially our luncheons at Red Lobster when they had their "unlimited shrimp". Even after our retirement and during her illness we kept in touch, spending hours on the phone. Although the miles now separated us, our friendship was to last forever. She will truly be missed!

Joyce was a sweet kind person. I always enjoyed seeing her when I´d go to Mass at St. Rita. We were also in school there together many years ago. She was a fun friend. I will miss her sweet smile and caring nature. May God bless and comfort her family during this difficult time. May her soul rest in peace. Heaven has gained a new angel.
