Joycelyn Mary Buras Sconza was born in New Orleans, LA, on October 29, 1931, but was a resident of Mobile, AL, since the late 1950s. She lived a long, full life marked by a generous spirit and good humor that touched everyone who knew her. She passed at age 94 on March 5, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Sconza and parents Edith and Ernest Buras.
She is survived by her loving family: Glenn and Sherry Egan and their children Tammy and Roselani, Gayle and Tom Bieltz and their children Jessica and Stephanie as well as by her loving god-children: Doug and Shera Butt, David and Lauri Butt, Lorie Evans and Donnie Smith, Joyce and Randy Moyse, Kathy and Steve Turner, and their children and many friends.
Joycelyn's funeral will be held on March 12, 2026, at 12 p.m., at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to Joycelyn's heart.
Her legacy of love, resilience, and generosity will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing her. We will all miss her gumbo, red beans and rice, and Christmas candies.
