Joye Bonelle Engstrom

Joye Bonelle Engstrom, 91, went to live with her Lord on June 28, 2024.
She was born November 13, 1932, at home in Hamilton County, Iowa, the daughter of Herbert "Hap" and Marie (Mindeman) Krumm. She attended schools at St. Paul's Lutheran School, Stanhope High School and Tobin Business College. She worked for the Boone County Hospital for 32 ½ years and was their Business Manager when she retired in 1994.
Joye was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Boone County and later married Duward Engstrom at the same church on June 8, 1952. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church until she moved to Boone, Iowa, and transferred her membership to Trinity Lutheran Church. She lived in Boone for 30 years and moved to Ankeny, Iowa in July of 2004, and became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ankeny. She loved all three of her churches.
Joye started line dancing in 1991 and enjoyed this for about 21 years. She loved her family very much, including all her relatives and friends she met over the years. She loved to watch her favorite team, the Iowa Hawkeyes.
She is survived by her son, Daniel (Lana) Engstrom of Story City; daughter, Cindy O'Brien of Ankeny; stepson, Jody "Jode" (Denise) Dykstra; grandchildren, Jamie Jo Engstrom, Zachary Daniel Engstrom, Nikki Joye (Ryan) Ahern, and Lexxi Marie O'Brien; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Hurley in 1968; father in 1998; mother in 2001; husband of 19 years, Duward Engstrom in 2010; nephew, Dennis Krumm in 2012; son-in-law, Dennis O'Brien in 2017; and sister-in-law, Doris Mathre in 2021.
