Juan Manuel Aguilar, 79, of Brownsville, TX, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, entered eternal rest Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Spanish Meadows surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brownsville TX on October 13, 1945.

He is preceded in death by parents Guadalupe Aguilar and Maria Rivas Lieck; sisters; Emeteria Fuentes and Luisa Aguilar (cuata), brother Armando Aguilar.

Left to cherish his memory is his spouse Rosa Maria Aguilar; brothers and sisters; Guadalupe Aguilar, Alberto Aguilar, Luisa Bolado, Robert Lieck and Celia Lieck. Children; Tammy Filby (Ernest Filby), Johnny Aguilar, Lisa Marie Aguilar, Robert Andrew Aguilar, John Gabriel Aguilar and Mary Rose Macias (Juan Ricardo Macias), Grandchildren: Jeremy Lucio, Gabriel Lucio, Marissa Alejandra Trevino, Sophia Isabella
Macias and Daniel Ricardo Macias.

Juan Manuel Aguilar enlisted in the United States Army in January of 1967, served a tour in Vietnam during the Vietnam War, receiving the Purple Heart due to sustaining an injury while on tour. Juan received his Honorable Discharge from the Army in December 1968. Juan enlisted in the Texas National Guard in September 1980 and was Honorably Discharged in April of 1991.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 26th , 2025, from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 6:00 P.M. On Wednesday, August 27 th , the chapel opens at 9:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. A chapel service will commence at 10:00 a.m. At 11:30 a.m., the service will conclude. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission TX at 1:00 P.M.
