Juan Hernandez, 79, of Bonner Springs, KS, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at home surrounded by his loved ones. Juan Hernandez is the son born to Gertrudes and Marina Hernandez.

Juan was born on October 8, 1946, in Wharton County, Texas. Then later moved to Bonner Springs, Ks. Where he worked in the Sweet Potato Farm in De Soto, Ks. That is where he met his beloved wife of 59 years, Cecilia Hernandez; these two became one in holy matrimony in 1967. Later, he landed a job in the industrial field of Herman Corporation, and after working for Herman Corporation, he retired.

During his retirement, Juan would be outside building a table, a basketball goal, and bird houses. You could ask him to build anything, and he would build it. Juan Hernandez was a loving father to three children: Betty Apel, John Hernandez, and Sally Hernandez. He was a very proud father to his children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrudes and Marina Hernandez, his brothers Gertrudes Hernandez Jr., Fernando Hernandez, and Leon Hernandez. His sisters Sarah

Jo Hernandez, Joann Rios, Betty Jo Hernandez, and Guadalupe Gonzales. Grandson Carlin Hill Jr., and great-granddaughter Yanichel Nelson.

Juan Hernandez leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Cecilia Hernandez, his children, Betty Apel (Mathew Apel), John Hernandez, and Sally Hernandez. His brothers Isabel Hernandez, Reyes Hernandez, Joe Daniel Hernandez, Ramiro Hernandez, Albert Lee Hernandez, Valentino Hernandez, Faustino Hernandez, and Margarito.

His sisters Maria Del Luz Santana, Marina Hernandez, Cecilia Hernandez, and Guandalupe Hernandez. His eighteen grandchildren LaToya Nelson, LaTonya Nelson, Dennis Waite (Brittany Waite), Alicia Waite, Michael Waite, SaraFina Zavala (Angelica Zavala), Carletta

Smith (William Smith), Mathew Apel II, Diego Apel, Anna Hernandez, Amanda Hernandez, Jacob Hernandez (Mindy Hernandez), Katelyn Drydale, Marie Hernandez, Mayra Hernandez-Johnson (Cortez Johnson), Lucya Castro, Daisee Castro, and Luis Castro Jr., twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Juan was full of love, the kind of love you keep forever because it is truly unconditional. He was tough and strong, yet open and soft to everyone. He will be missed dearly!
