It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Juan Antonio Vera, a beloved veteran, devoted family member, comrade and cherished friend, on September 27, 2025, at the age of 76. Juan Antoinio Vera passed away at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, leaving behind a legacy of courage, service, and love.
Born on February 12, 1949, in Edinburg, TX, Juan Antonio Vera served his country with honor and distinction. He proudly served in the Army from 1969 to 1975. His time in service exemplified his unwavering commitment to protecting the freedoms we hold dear.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Celestino Vera and Guadalupe Balderas, and siblings, Maria Elena, Chavelo, Mario (Mary+), Gavino (Juliana), Jose (Magdalena), and Celestino Vera.
He is survived by his former wife Adalinda LaGrega and their children, Juan Antonio Jr. (Sonia), Joe Alex (Louena), grandchildren, Johnny, Emily, Kiabeth, Joe Alex Jr, Thomas, Nikolai, and siblings, Agapita Gracia (Guadalupe+), Esperanza, and Andres (Carmen+). He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A celebration of Juan Antonio Vera’s life will be held on October 7, 2025, at Sanchez Funeral Home from 1:00PM – 8:00PM with a rosary at 6:00PM. Mass will be held on October 8, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Church at 8:00AM followed by procession to Veteran’s Cemetery in Mission for burial at 11:00AM.
Juan Antonio Vera’s legacy of courage, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Rio Grande City - Juan Antonio Vera, 76, died on Friday, September 27, 2025 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas. Funeral arrangements will be under the direction of Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City, TX.
