EDCOUCH/EDINBURG-Juanita Alvarado, 92 went to be with the Lord surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Windsor Arbor View, Edinburg, Texas. Juanita was born in Edcouch, Texas on January 1, 1933 to Ladislado and Juana Escalante.
Juanita enjoyed shopping, sewing for her loved ones, knitting, and playing bingo with her daughters. She supported and cheered for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s educational and sports events. Having been widowed at the young age of 37, she worked hard to provide for her children. Juanita leaves a lasting legacy of love, dedication, and kindness that will always be remembered by those who knew her.
Juanita is preceded in death by her husband Desiderio Alvarado, father Ladislado Escalante, mother Juana Escalante, brothers, Torivio Escalante, Heliodoro Escalante, Modesto Escalante, sister, Maria Felisa Ruiz,
children, Juan Desiderio Alvarado, Lucinda Garza, Alfredo Alvarado and Ricardo Alvarado, granddaughter, Celinda Ly Contreras and great-grandson, Joey Reyna.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving brother: Guadalupe Escalante. Children: Rosa Maria (Eduardo)Contreras and Heriberto (Sylvia) Alvarado. Grandchildren; Juan Desiderio (Mary) Alvarado, Jr., Leticia (James) Ramos, Jaime (Karla) Alvarado, Steven (Shyanne) Alvarado, Michell (Roy) Flores, Marianna (Rene) Reyna, Maricela Garza, Canuto (Sandra) Garza, Marissa Garza, Carlos (Cassie) Garza, A.J. (Jackie) Garza, Clarissa Ly Contreras, Eduardo (Janay) Contreras, Jr., Veronica Flores, Alfredo Alvarado, Jr., Desiderio Alvarado, Ariana Alvarado, Alyssa Alvarado and Ashley Alvarado. Great-grandchildren, Abigail Alvarado, Juan Desiderio Alvarado, III, Jade Luna Ramos, Mila Rose Ramos, Selma Alvarado, Sean Alvarado, Raul Flores, Freddy Reyna, Rene J. Reyna, Jr., Emma Rose Pena, Caitlyn Garza, Sebastian Garza, Ramiro Vaiz, Diego Vaiz, Carolina Garza, Carlos Garza, Jr., Olivia Ly Contreras, Ezekiel Contreras, Grayson San Miguel, Victoria Salinas, Jayce Salinas, Daniel Alvarado, Kimberly Granados, Carson Alvarado, Aliyah Silos, Anaya Silos, Alycia Silos, and Azaleya Silos.
A viewing will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025 and Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 1:00 P.M-9:00 P.M with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 P.M on both evenings at Serenity Funeral Chapels in Edcouch. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 10:00 A.M at St. Teresa in Edcouch followed by a burial at Highland Memorial Park in Welsaco, Texas.
Funeral services are under the direction of Dr. Joseph Conde and staff at Serenity Funeral Chapels at 1401 E Santa Rosa Ave, Edcouch, Texas 78538.
