Juanita Carole Merricks Elmore

ELMORE, Juanita Carole Merricks, 62, of Emporia, died Thursday, August 28, 2008 at her home after a brief battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Fulton Merricks; and her brother, Roger Merricks. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Lester Paul Elmore; two sons, Michael Anthony Elmore and wife, Susan, and Brian Keith Elmore and wife, Brooke; her daughter, Kristal Horton and husband, Scott; five grandchildren, Brittany Elmore, Cameron Halfhill, Michaela Elmore, Elijah Elmore and Blair Elmore. Carole is also survived by two sisters, Sandra Sabo and husband, Charles Albert Sabo Jr., and Wanda Edwards and husband, Darwin. The family will be meeting at the home of her daughter at 298 Brunswick Road in Emporia, and will receive friends at Owen Funeral Home in Jarratt 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday (tonight). The funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2008 at St. John Lutheran Church, with entombment to follow at Greensville Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Virginia, 7231 Forest Ave., Suite 100, Richmond, Va. 23226, or to VCU Massey Cancer Center, P.O.
