Juanita Elzora Crisp Kilpatrick, 91, of Andrews, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025.
Born on June 5, 1934, she was the beloved daughter of the late Claude and Alice Ogle Crisp.
Juanita was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 70 years, Robert Sheridan Kilpatrick; and her six siblings: James ""Jim"" Crisp, Lucy Morgan, Annajo Nelson, Bethel Crisp, Ray Crisp and Claude Jr. Crisp.
She is survived by her sister, Wilma Jean Owens and husband Joe of Maryland.
A proud and loving mother, Juanita leaves behind four children: daughter, Karen Reaver and husband Stan of Hampstead, Md., daughter Robin Allen and husband Jim of Murphy, son John Kilpatrick and wife Sheila of Andrews, and son Alan Kilpatrick of Andrews. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Shawn Hooper of Hampstead, Md., Scott Reaver and wife Kim of Hanover, Pa., Rick Reaver and wife Jen of Hanover, Pa., Jimmy Allen and wife Shelley of McCaysville, Ga., and Emily Merritt and husband Seth of Andrews, as well as several great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
Juanita was a woman who loved her family fiercely and opened her heart and home to all. She possessed a beautiful voice and shared her love of music and singing with her children and grandchildren, creating a legacy that will echo through generations.
Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she prepared delicious meals not only for her own family but welcomed neighborhood children who knew they would always find a place at her table. She was renowned for her homemade candy making ability, especially her homemade fudge, a cherished art she lovingly passed down to her children and grandchildren. Juanita also made the best picnic meals and delighted in taking her family on picnics, creating countless treasured memories outdoors.
She will be remembered for her extraordinary warmth, boundless love and unwavering kindness. Juanita lived her life as a shining example of compassion, demonstrating through her actions how to treat others with grace and generosity. Her open home and open arms were a testament to the love she carried in her heart. She stood firmly in her faith and shone the light of love and Christ in her daily life.
Funeral services celebrating Juanita's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Andrews First Baptist Church with the Revs. Mickey Stewart and Calvin Bobo officiating. Interment will be in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Allen, Shawn Hooper, Seth Merritt, Bill Dahdah, Jeff Womack, Bill Bateman and Jake Buchannan. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Crisp, Joe Crisp, Ray Frazier and Michael McGuire.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Andrews First Baptist Church prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in memory of Juanita Elzora Crisp Kilpatrick be sent to Andrews High School, 50 High School Drive, Andrews, NC 28901, to promote higher education for local students. Please note ""Robert and Juanita Kilpatrick Scholarship"" in the memo area. Cash donations may also be taken to the school.
