Juanita Himel Obituary
Visitation will be held at Bayou Plaquemine Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 10:00am until service time at 12:00pm, conducted by Rev. Tom Shepard. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park.
Juanita is survived by her daughter, Jana Kristi Himel of Plaquemine; brother, Arthur Adonis "Bro" Goulas and wife Dianne of Central; brother-in-law, Charles Templet of Plaquemine; sister-in-law, Rosalie Goulas; and honorary children, her nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John I. Himel; parents, Adonis and Nettie Gilmore Goulas; two sisters, Doris Goulas Templet and Polly Goulas Verret; and brother, James Hale Goulas.
Juanita was best known for her baking skills. Every member of the family and many of her friends received a cake of their choosing for their birthday. She loved her family, living on the bayou, western movies, and reminiscing about the good ole days. Juanita was the last living charter member of the Bayou Plaquemine Baptist Church.
